May 2011. Maypole Dancing?

Welcome to The Sketch File for May
We're thrilled to announce that if you enter a project using either this new sketch, or the next one (that's the May or June Sketch File sketches) then you'll be in with a chance of winning a fabulous prize, donated by our own lovely Jackie.  PLUS, if you enter something for both months then you double your chances of winning!
Here's what you might win:

Hopefully that will whet you appetite for joining in and crafting with us here on the Sketch File.
And, hopefully you'll feel inspired by this, the brand new sketch for May:
We don't mind what you make using it - a card, a layout, for a book cover or the top of a box - anything goes, use it for whatever way you fancy making.  But do, please come and let us know where we can see what you've made - and of course we need to know so that your name goes in our Lucky Virtual Hat for that fab prize.
Here are cards from Lynda and Jackie to start you thinking, there'll be more ideas along shortly, and hopefully some links to projects you've made so do come back and see how things are going.
Happy Crafting and Good Luck!

April Update

Here's an album made using the April sketch for the covers.  The semi-circle part of the sketch has been used to make a wrap around flap with a ribbon closure.
Hope you like it!
Scroll down to see the latest sketch and more project ideas - we'd love to see anything you make, so please come back and let us know all about it.

April 2011; Any Which Way is Up

First an apology for going AWOL but hopefully we're back now and I'll be trying heard to keep things up to date!

Here is our Sketch for April.  Feel free to turn it round, shrink it or use it whichever way round you like, and for any project you fancy - hopefully our sketches are versatile enough to use in lots of different ways, for example Jackie has used this one as a book cover.
Here are projects from Lynda and Jackie.  We'll have more to share over the coming weeks and we hope you'll join in and share your own projects too.
If you come and leave us a link, we'll come over to yours and say "hello" ;)

Jan/Feb 2011, Triangles and Circles

First of all a rather belated "Happy New Year" from Bev, Jackie, Lynda and Kathy - lets hope that 2011 is a good one for all of us.
As we're so late in getting this one posted, (it's Kathy's fault) we're going to let this run till the end of February, so hopefully you'll have plenty of time to have a play with it.
You can use the triangle shapes as bunting, or for a name or turn the whole thing upside down and you've got a row of hills, or the teeth of a scary monster! However you use it, please come back and let us know where we can see your creations. Here'are some ideas from us to get you thinking.

December 2010; Getting Funky

We're very excited this month because we're sharing our sketch with the girls on Funky Hand's Challenge blog "Get Funky".
So for our first examples using the December sketch we're using Funky Hand papers for our projects. If you've not come across them before click HERE for more information. There are downloads and CDs available and the papers and digi images are great to work with.  You'll also find a little freebie download which makes a fab "taster" for you to try
Here's the sketch, you can use it for a card or anything else you want to make - but please come and let us know where we can see anything you make, then we'll be able to add your blog to our links list.
Here's the first examples the Sketch File Team have made using this sketch and Funky Hand goodies.
We'll be along with more things using the sketch later in December, so please pop back and see.

Don't forget to pop over to the Get Funky blog to see lots
more projects using this sketch.
There's always a prize on offer over there, so it's definitely worth joining in!
Please remember to come and tell us where we can see your creations

November Sketch - Take 2

Hi everyone, it's Lynda here and I'd just like to show another card I made using this month's sketch and also the scraps left over from my first card. Hope you like it.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Kathy, Bev and Jackie for asking me to join this great little team and to introduce myself properly.

I've been card making now for about 4 or 5 years and I'm absolutely addicted to it. At first I attended local crafting classes getting to know the ins and outs of stamping, embossing, die cutting etc. You name it I wanted to try it. I was amazed at just how much you could actually do with paper and glue lol. I started my blog nearly a couple of years ago when the lovely Kirsty Wiseman asked me to join her Design Team and it's just snowballed since then. I'm also on the Design Team for Daring Cardmakers, Craftwork Cards and now Kathy's Waffle Sketch File.

I've always crafted one way or another all of my life - knitting, crocheting, tapestry, rug making, pressed flowers, dough craft - just to name a few but my major passion before card making was pottery. I had my own little workshop and produced decorative pottery which I sold at local craft fairs. When clay work became too heavy I had to find something else to do and I'm so glad I found paper and glue. The rest they say 'is history'.
