December Update 1

The project using the December "Take 5" sketch for this update is the top cover of a memo block.  The 5 tall rectangles are made using strips of ribbon and rows of tiny punched squares.
Here's a reminder of the sketch:
This is the memo block.  If you would like to see how it's made there is a tutorial HERE

Please let us know where we can see your creations

December 2011 - Take 5

Time for a new layout idea here on The Sketch File.  We hope you like this one with it's simple easy to use lines and circles.  The one works well whichever way you twist it so don't feel you have to use it this way up.  Or maybe you could shrink it- or "grow" the circle and shrink the lines - we just want to see you getting creative.  As usual you can make whatever you like and any sort of crafting with our sketches.
Apologies if you came by earlier and found the sketch missing (oops!) - put it down to Christmas stress - or maybe trying to do too many things at the same time! Thanks to the lovely Kate for the "heads-up" hehe

We are very much into our Christmas card-making at the moment so we have a couple of cards to show you this week.

(sketch rotated)
Please come back soon for more ideas and inspiration using the
December Sketch File idea, and don't forget to add
your link when you're ready to share what you've made.

We love to see what you make with our sketches and we don't mind what you make or whether you twist, mirror or shrink them - it's all about getting creative and having fun - just don't forget to let us know where we can see what you've made!

Carol has made this wonderful card using the November template.  Her beautiful card is stuffed full of  glorious rich colours and textures - isn't it fab? You can see more of Carol's work by following the link to her blog

Here's a quick reminder of the sketch

November Update 2

Hello, Kathy here
Today I thought I'd share a couple of Christmas cards I've made using the current sketch in different ways to show how versatile this sketch can be.
First the original view of the sketch and a card to match, and then the rotated and mirrored version of the sketch and a card made using the new layout

If you're interested in the details, there's more info about these cards on my blog.
Remember, the Skerch File isn't just about cards - we want to see anything you make using the sketches - please come back and leave a link though, so we can visit and admire your projects.

If you're trying to get on with your Christmas card making perhaps this LO will help with that - or maybe you'll be able to use it for some other crafting project.  We don't mind how you use it, but we'd like to see what you make so please come back and leave us a link and a comment when you're ready to share your creations with us.
Here are a couple of ideas to get you started

We'll back again soon with more of the things the DT have made using our "Frames Galore" sketch as the month goes on, and of course, we'll be looking

October Update 2

This week's idea for using the October 2 Circles 2 Go sketch comes from Keryn and is a great idea for a Christmas card.  Using the two crossing lines detail part way up the card looks like ribbons on a parcel and the Father Christmas image is just lovely, isn't it?

Maybe this will be just the inspiration you need to get busy with your own Christmas cards!  If it is, then please let us see your own interpretations - we love it when you share your ideas with us.
Don't forget though that our sketches can be used for any sort of crafting project you like - so whether you make cards, books, ATCs, Inchies, Digi layouts, or any thing else, you can share your projects here.
Looking forward to seeing what you make this month

September Update 3

Back again with another project to share using the September Simplicity sketch.

This time it's me, Kathy here to share another picture page for my mini album.
This page shows "Shaw's Corner" in Ayot St Lawrence, Hertfordshire which was the home of George Bernard Shaw.

I've punched the squares for the border areas from another photo taken on same visit which had lots of flowers in the foreground.

There's still time to join in with this sketch, and you can make anything you fancy using it - just don't forget to pop back and leave you link so we can come and see what you've made.

September Update 2

Hi there, and welcome to another September Sketch File Update
This week we have a new DT member to introduce you to - please welcome
Keryn McNicol
who has been using the Sketch File for her own card-making over the last couple of years and now will be making projects especially for sharing on the Sketch File Blog.
Keryn says:
I'm married, second time around, to Steve and have 2 grown up daughters
Eve got a few health issues but mainly with mobility and cant work but I'm gradually adjusting to that having worked hard all of my life.
We had 2 super little dogs and recently came home with a puppy to join our fold!  They are my main source of entertainment whilst my crafting is my main source of sanity!
I hope to come along and 'see' you all individually and see more of your beautiful work.  My style is quite straight forward; I get messier than my papers if I try the distressed look and as for goth, steampunk and fairies I can appreciate it but my fingers just cant do it!

Keryn's first creation especially for The Sketch File is below and we can't wait to see more.

Come back soon for more ideas using this sketch, and to leave your link so we can come and see what YOU make with it - anything you want to make using the sketches can be linked here - cards, ATCs Inchies, Twinchies, LOs - it's up to you!

Happy Crafting!

September Update 1

Two new projects using the September sketch which we hope will inspire you. to have a go at using it yourself.
These wonderful ideas are brought to you by DT member Jackie who's designs are always a treat to see (do check her blog as Jackie posts regularly about the weddings and other events she creates for from her own shop) and by our special Guest Designer Kaz - you can find lots more of her amazing work on her fabulous blog Slightly Wonky Crafts )

(don't you just love that pretty bunting used in place of the squares- what a great idea!)

(beautiful colours, a fab image and a very apt sentiment for this summer!)

Here's a reminder of the sketch
Over to you.
Any sort of crafting project counts here, so come back and let us know where
we can see your creations by leaving a link.
We'll be back next week with more ideas.

August Update 2

How are you getting on with thinking "In the Round"? this month. We're happy to see a couple of people really rising to the challenge, but we'd love to see more of you joining im!
This week we've another way of using the sketches to share; Janice (aka Serial Crafter)  is a regular contributor to online magazine "Paper and Pixels"  and a whizz at making Digi Layouts, so the perfect person to show how our sketches work for digi scrapping too.

We were thrilled when in no time at all Janice came up with this fab LO for our August sketch.  I love the offset circles on the background and the lovely Autumnal colours, and that photo is perfect "in the Round", isn't it?
thanks Janice, you're a star :-)

Here's a reminder of the sketch so that you can see just how well the LO works.
So, there's some more food for thought - why not have a go at a
digital, or hybrid project yourself?
We'd love to see what you make, so please leave a link - a comment too, if you've time!

August 2011 - In the Round

Thanks to everyone who shared their "Ovally Nice" creations over the last month, they really were "awfully Nice" indeed!
Time now for a new sketch and this time we're going round and round in circles and we hope you'll be inspired to have a bit of fun with this one.

For starters, this week we've a couple of things from the DT to get you thinking - we have Jackie and Carol with their
first examples using the sketch.
We'll be back with weekly updates - usually each Tuesday there'll be new ideas from our team for you to see, so please come back each week to find out what we've been making.

We're really looking forward to seeing what you come up with, so please leave your link (coming soon!) and a comment too so we can come and visit - and please don't forget to spread the word about where you found the sketch ;)

See you next week with more creating "In the Round"
